Brett Kavanaugh's drinking at Yale comes into renewed focus

WASHINGTON DC- SEPTEMBER 27 Judge Brett Kavanaugh testifies to the Senate Judiciary Committee during his Supreme Court confirmation hearing in the Dirksen Senate Office Building on Capitol Hill

Kavanaugh was accused of throwing ice at someone in the bar, but was not charged with an offense or arrested, police spokesman David Hartman said.

Kavanaugh and four other men were questioned by the New Haven, Connecticut, police department as a result of the incident in September 1985, the Times reports. According to the report, Cozzolino's ear was bleeding, but Dudley denied throwing the glass.

Between the repeated lies to the Senate, the accusations of sexual assault, and the history of excessive drinking, Brett Kavanaugh's act as a ideal gentleman has worn thin as more information about his past continues to trickle out.

An unredacted version of the report states Dudley "was transported to Union Ave detention facility by prisoner conveyance." and a large "A" on the report indicates Dudley was arrested, according to New Haven's police chief Anthony Campbell.

A professor at North Carolina State University, Chad Ludington said he and Kavanaugh were friends in college, putting him in a position to know that the judge was lying-or offering a "blatant mischaracterization", as he put it-during Senate testimony Thursday. These people have no shame.

Within moments, another Kavanaugh friend, Yale basketball star Chris Dudley, was involved, Ludington said. However, what is also alleged is that someone else threw a glass at that same person, and that glass hit that victim in the ear and that person was taken to the hospital.

Chad Ludington told NBC News that he was going to the Federal Bureau of Investigation on Monday to give them information about Kavanaugh's drunken behavior when they were classmates at Yale University. The information came after Trump told reporters on Monday that the bureau should "interview anybody that they want within reason, but you have to say within reason".

"On many occasions I heard Brett slur his words and saw him staggering from alcohol consumption", Ludington wrote.

As the investigation is not a criminal one, the FBI will not say whether it believes the allegations are true.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders made note of Bazelon's comment in a tweet of her own, tying it to what she called a desperate Democratic attack on Kavanaugh.

Kavanaugh said during the hearing that he drank beer not only in college, but also in high school, where, he noted, the drinking age was 18.

"I never saw Brett black out or not be able to remember the prior evening's events, nor did I ever see Brett act aggressive, hostile, or in a sexually aggressive manner to women".

"Brett and I did not socialize beyond the first few days of freshman year".
