India vs West Indies 1st Test, Day 2

Murali Vijay Questions Selectors

The right-handed Kohli stroked a high-quality 139 to add to 18-year-old opener Privthi Shaw's 134 from Thursday's opening day, an innings which helped power the hosts to their highest ever total against West Indies.

Only right-hander Roston Chase, unbeaten on 27, showed any enterprise as wickets tumbled around him, leaving the Windies still trailing by a mammoth 555 runs heading into Saturday's third day.

Forced to follow-on after conceding a 468-run lead, West Indies batsmen cut a sorry figure again and were bowled out for 196 - to be dismissed twice in just over three sessions of play and in three days of play. And the spin department is set to be taken care of by the seasoned Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.

"With all due respect to West Indies Cricket but I have a question for u all...will this west Indies team qualify for Ranji quarters from the plate group?"

In the first innings, Ashwin first removed Chase with a beauty, a flighted ball that turned in to create a big gap between bat and pad before crashing into the stumps. In between those wickets, Shimron Hetmyer was run out for 10 after a mix-up with Ambris.

Virat Kohli has broken Sachin Tendulkar's record to become the fastest Indian player to register 24 Test centuries.

"Lovely to see such an attacking knock in your first innings, @prithvishaw!". Opener Kieran Powell was the only West Indies batsman to make a contribution in the second innings, an entertaining 83 off 93 balls with eight boundaries and four sixes. He reached the milestone with a four off the second ball of the 107th over, bowled by Devendra Bishoo.

Former England bowler Lucy Pearson, who was head of the school in Manchester that teenager Shaw played for six years ago, was not surprised by his impact on debut.
