Liberman orders halt of fuel to Gaza until 'violence stops entirely'

Израиль угрожает ХАМАС ответом в случае продолжения атак из Газы

Israeli forces killed seven Palestinians on Friday in protests along Gaza's border, Gaza health officials said.

One Israeli soldier has been killed by a Palestinian sniper during the weekly protests, and tracts of Israeli land have been scorched by incendiary kites and balloons.

Turkey on Saturday "strongly" condemned Israel's "heinous attack" on peaceful Palestinian protestors in Gaza which killed seven people.

However, senior members of the Israeli defense establishment opposed Liberman's order, arguing that a distinction should be made between the fuel provided by Qatar and Israel, according a report by Haaretz.

According to the Health Ministry, more than 200 Palestinians have been killed - and thousands more injured - since the rallies began on March 30.

Last Sunday, a Palestinian assailant killed two Israelis in a nearby settlement.

The Israeli military has been criticised by Palestinians and global human rights groups for its lethal response to the protests.

The men subsequently approached an Israeli border post and were shot, the Israeli army said. Most of the Palestinians were killed during border demonstrations, though others died in air strikes and tank shelling.

A wave of mainly lone-wolf Palestinian attacks against Israelis in the West Bank erupted in 2015 but had largely abated. An Israeli soldier was killed over the same period. In recent weeks, it has stepped up its campaign, holding nighttime protests and adding new locations, such as along the beach.

The infiltration occurred on Friday as 14,000 Palestinians rioted in several places along the border fence as part of the ongoing "march of return".

Elsewhere in Khan Younis and at Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, hundreds of people held funeral ceremonies for Ahmad al-Tawil as well as 17-year-old Ahmed Abu Naim who lost their lives during anti-occupation rallies east of al-Bureij refugee camp on Friday.

On Friday, a bomb was detonated along the fence and a number of Gazans entered into Israel, according to IDF spokesman Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus, who tweeted "some 20 terrorists crossed through the hole created by the IED, about 5 assaulted the IDF position and were repelled".
