Flood warnings in place as more rain forecast

Storm Callum How will bad weather affect the UK

Three people have died as a result of Storm Callum so far.

Birmingham New Street has said some rail services could be delayed, cancelled or altered due to flooding and line damage caused by Storm Callum.

The warning for wind is in place across Wales and the north west until midnight tonight - with Wrexham also covered in the Met Office warning.

The October school break is one of the busiest weekends of the year for the airport.

Storm Callum was named by Met Eireann and is an intense area of low-pressure passing to the west of Ireland, northern England and Scotland during Friday.

"You can expect hard driving conditions with standing water and heavy spray and a risk of localised flooding causing potential disruption to travel". Some rivers overflowed, flooding homes and leading to a cut in power supplies.

Secretary of State for Wales Alun Cairns has spoken of his sadness at the loss of life during Storm Callum.

"We have experienced unprecedented river levels and the worst flooding we have seen in Carmarthenshire for over 30 years", said Carmarthenshire's Head of Transport and Engineering Stephen Pilliner.

"Please remember not to attempt to drive through closed roads or floodwater and, if conditions are stormy, please keep away from exposed coasts".

The operator issued a warning via Twitter for people to be careful if they come across any fallen trees and to be aware that there may also be downed power cables.

The rain is again expected to be accompanied by strong winds, which may increase autumnal leaf fall and potential for blocked drains/culverts, heightening the potential for flooding.

Guests arriving at the royal wedding of Princess Eugenie and fiance Jack Brooksbank in Windsor were also buffeted by high winds, with some hats blown off and many having to hold them.

Other areas in the east and south-east of Britain escaped much of the storm's wrath and enjoyed largely sunny, warm conditions.
