Kate dons Diana tiara for state banquet

Bodyguard Rushes Meghan Markle Out of Fiji Market After *Six Minutes* Due to Security Risks

King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands accompanied by Queen Maxima are staying at Buckingham Palace during their two day stay in the United Kingdom.

Harper's Bazaar explains that Kate's choice of the necklace was particularly appropriate for last night's dinner to honor the Netherlands' King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima, as it was previously worn by the Queen Mother at a state banquet in a similar welcome to Dutch royals in 1982.

The order, which is also worn by the Duchess of Cornwall, Princess Anne and the Countess of Wessex, features a jewel encased image of the Queen pinned on a chartreuse yellow ribbon and worn on the left shoulder.

They also visited Westminster Abbey and attended a reception at the Palace of Westminster before the state banquet. Kate was also wearing, as widely expected, the Queen Mary Lover's Knot Tiara.

She added extra wow factor with Diana's Collingwood Pearl and Diamond Earrings and the diamond and pearl Queen Alexandra Wedding Necklace, on loan from the Queen. She looks like a queen now because she looks utterly comfortable wearing the trappings.

Making her third appearance at a state banquet, the Duchess of Cambridge chose a dusty blue gown by favourite designer Alexander McQueen.

Kate and Prince William were among a clutch of royals, headed by Queen Elizabeth, who turned out to greet the Dutch royals for the kind of glittery gala that only Buckingham Palace can offer.

The mom of three walked alongside Rear Admiral Ludger Brummelaar, while husband Prince William accompanied British Prime Minister Theresa May. It was one of her most important marital presents, coming from her groom himself, and she wore it on their wedding day at St. George's Chapel, Windsor.

It's thought that the queen bestowed the order on Kate in December a year ago.
