Virat Kohli stars as Indian batsmen show up Australia

Virat Kohli Krunal Pandya help India end T20I series against Australia on high

The captain's perfectly executed chase in 19.4 overs came after Shikhar Dhawan (41 off 22 balls) and Rohit Sharma (23 off 16 balls) provided a flying start to the innings.

India captain Virat Kohli led from the front as his team claimed a six-wicket win to tie their T20 series against Australia in Sydney. Meanwhile, India beat Australia by six wickets at the SCG in the third and final T20I on Sunday.

After winning the player of the series award against Australia in T20Is, Shikhar Dhawan thanked the Indian fans in the crowd for their support. India did get a chance to pose a reply in the first T20 but the second match was washed away due to intermittent rain, leaving India with just the last T20 to save the series.

With the win, India levelled the 3-match series 1-1 and are now unbeaten in their last 10 T20I series which started with the one-off T20I against Sri Lanka in 2017.

In between Pandya also accounted for Maxwell, caught by Sharma in the end, as also the vital wicket of Alex Carey (27) who held the Australian middle order together after the initial setbacks.

Marcus Stoinis and Nathan Coulter-Nile pushed the total beyond 160 with a couple of late boundaries but couldn't swing momentum after Pandya's game-changing haul of 4-36.

However, earlier in the day, Aussie skipper, Aaron Finch won the toss and put Virat Kohli's men to field first. After that, India lost their three wickets adding 41 runs. They will be hoping to win the final game and move to No.3 in the ICC T20I team rankings. D'Arcy Short (33) was the top-scorer for Australia, while Krunal Pandya picked up four wickets for India. He was helped briefly by Lokesh Rahul (14) and Dinesh Karthik (22) who was at the crease when Kohli hit the winning boundary. I'm sure they'll support us for the Tests too.
