Hundreds of demonstrators protest against Crown Prince's visit to Tunisia

Protests as Saudi crown prince visits Tunisia

U.S. Republican Senator Mike Lee has said he "disagrees" with President Donald Trump's dismissal of Central Intelligence Agency assessment that Saudi crown prince ordered murder of Jamal Khashoggi.

President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi received on Monday, Nov. 26 Bin Salman upon his arrival at Cairo International Airport.

The trip, aimed at rebuilding his image and reinforcing ties with allies, promises to offer a contrast to the prince's lengthy tour across the United States in April, where he met Michael Bloomberg, Rupert Murdoch, Disney chief Bob Iger, Google co-founder Sergey Brin, Apple's Tim Cook, and former President George H. Bush, among many others.

Hundreds of Tunisians demonstrated in the capital on Tuesday against a planned visit by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

People chant slogans and hold banners as they take part in a protest, opposing the visit of Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Tunis, Tunisia, November 27, 2018.

I disagree with the president's assessment.

Prince Mohammed was greeted with a ceremonial reception and both the Saudi and Tunisian national anthems were played and a guard of honor expected.

Schiff previously told The Washington Post in an interview published on Friday that the House of Representatives would launch an investigation into Trump's personal financial ties to Saudi Arabia when Democrats take over the legislative body in January.

Regarding the professional reasons for their rejection of the Saudi Crown Prince's visit, the journalists explained that: "The horrifying assassination of their colleague journalist Jamal Khashoggi in the Kingdom's consulate in Istanbul on October 2 represents a clear and complete crime that the Saudi regime is fully responsible for committing it from beginning to end".

"We refuse to turn Tunisia into a destination to whitewash war crimes", she said.

"They were asking us to put as much pressure on the Saudis as we could [to buy American arms]", the official told the news agency.

If reports about the CIA's intelligence are true, the SC senator said "everything would be on the table" for punishment-including the end to President Donald Trump's acclaimed arms deal-as "we can not have a normal strategic relationship with somebody this insane".

"We are not here to support the Qatari-Turkey axis over the UAE-Saudi Arabia axis", Arous said, in reference to an ongoing diplomatic spat that began previous year when a Riyadh-led quartet imposed a blockade on Qatar.

Representative Adam Schiff has hit out at Donald Trump's support for Saudi Arabia, arguing that authoritarian leaders and despots will see the president's response to the high profile murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi as giving them a pass.
