Paul Pogba leads resurgent Man United to big win over Bournemouth

MANCHESTER ENGLAND- DECEMBER 30 Caretaker Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer of Manchester United walks off at half time during the Premier League match between Manchester United and AFC Bournemouth at Old Trafford

Manchester United Interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was raving about Marcus Rashford's performance as the Red Devils thrashed Bournemouth 4-1 at Old Trafford today. Whatever Solskjaer has said to him, it appears to have done the trick.

Paul Pogba is feeling so good at Manchester United these days that he's practicing his goal celebrations during the pre-game warmup.

"Maybe we have just realised that we are Manchester United and we need to be at the top of the league".

"We needed to win and it was a great performance as well so we're coming back".

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has truly revitalised the United side who have won three out of three games scoring 11 goals under the Norwegian. "It's just a different style of play, we are more offensive I would say, so we create more chances, and a bit higher as well".

"I think Paul's a top player". So this is how we want to play, we want to attack, the manager wants to attack. He has started two games and come off the bench at the beginning of the second half in another. "I love working with good players and good people".

Josh King saw an angled volley stopped by De Gea as Bournemouth tried to find a way back, but just before the break United seemed to have wrapped up the points with a third, Martial crossing for Rashford to steer home. Pogba gets his head to it and it's 2-0.

Unlike Pogba, Nemanja Matic was one of Mourinho's most trusted lieutenants but the Serbian has also epitomised the change in tack orchestrated by Solskjaer with the former Chelsea midfielder much more willing to look for a forward rather than sideways pass.

United were not finished in the first period, however, and scored their third in the 45th minute when Rashford stretched to turn an excellent Anthony Martial cross into the back of the net.

Within seconds, however, the visitors had a lifeline, David Brooks crossing from the left for Ake to power a header home.

Rashford should have added to his tally when put clean through by Pogba, but didn't get enough elevation on his attempted chip over Asmir Begovic before making way for Lukaku 20 minutes from time.

The new coach wants United to dominate matches and that has been seen in the first three games: 72 per cent against Cardiff City, 65 per cent against Huddersfield Town and 63 per cent against Bournemouth.
