Elizabeth Warren's 'Exploratory Committee' To Challenge Donald Trump Explained For Brits

Democrat Warren enters 2020 White House race

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) announced today that she's forming an exploratory committee for a 2020 presidential run.

"How did we get here?" she asked rhetorically. As she puts it, so many of America's problems were caused because "Billionaires and big corporations decided they wanted more of the pie, and they enlisted politicians to cut them a fatter slice". Now, says the Globe some, perhaps much, of that hunger is for other candidates. "That's one of the many causes of our current reality".

There is also the possibility that Warren will be fighting for the same voters as Sanders, who is considered a likely 2020 candidate and would undoubtedly be one of a handful of front-runners - if not the front-runner.

The Massachusetts senator, known as a liberal firebrand in her party, released a video in which she outlines her vision of a path to opportunity for all Americans.

Senator Warren has denounced Mr Trump as an "insecure money grubber" with a platform of "racism, sexism and xenophobia" while Mr Trump has described the former Harvard Law School professor as "goofy" and a "low life" with "a nasty mouth".

"I'm holding every random person who yelled at me in 2016 to their word that they'd vote for a woman if it was Elizabeth Warren". A month prior, weeks before the 2018 midterm elections, she released a video talking with her family in Oklahoma and addressing her claims to Native American heritage with a DNA test.

She and her three older brothers went through economic hardships, with her father's heart attack when she was 12 resulting in medical bills that required her mother to work at Sears and Warren to wait tables at age 13. Kamala Harris (D-CA), who took the top spot in Rolling Stone's recent Democratic primary power rankings, said she will make a decision about whether to run "over the holiday". She's always been driven, then, by the desire to protect working and middle-class Americans from the corrupt institutions that allow giant banks and wealthy politicians to trample them.

In an email to supporters, Warren said she'd more formally announce a campaign plan early in 2019. Warren has always been seen as a potential challenger to President Donald Trump in 2020.

Warren burst onto the national scene a decade ago during the financial crisis with calls for greater consumer protections. After Trump started referring to her as "Pocahontas", she took a DNA test in October.

Warren was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 2012, after raising an eye-popping $42.5 million to defeat Republican Sen.

With her exploratory committee formation likely to be the first of many in the next few weeks, we may find out sooner, rather than later, if her timing is right. He pushed her into the error of taking that DNA test. In that case, conservatives should hope that Warren is not the Democrats' nominee.
